A gentler way to choose your cat’s brush

Match the tool to the coat, and make comfort part of the routine.

Look at the coat first

Different coats need different tools. Bristle brushes can help remove loose hair from short coats. Longer-toothed combs may be useful for medium and long coats. Ask your veterinary team which tool suits your cat’s coat and skin.

Keep the session gentle

Avoid pulling at tangles. Long coats often need daily attention, but brushing should not become a struggle. Stop if your cat appears uncomfortable.

When a brush is not the answer

Do not cut mats out with scissors. Severe matting or irritated skin needs professional attention from a groomer or veterinarian. Buying a stronger tool is not a substitute for help.
